Student Conduct on Buses

  1. Conduct yourself as you would in the classroom.
  2. Arrive at the bus stop 5 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.
  3. Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop and the door opens before attempting to get on or off.
  4. Be seated immediately and remain seated while the bus is in motion, keeping your head, hands, and feet out of the aisle, inside the bus, and to yourself.
  5. Follow the Bus Driver's/Transportation Assistant's instructions.
  6. Bullying will not be tolerated.
  7. Do not use profane or vulgar language.
  8. Students may only carry backpacks, gym bags, laptops, and/or classroom materials onto the bus.
  9. Weapons of any kind, ammunition, knives, tobacco products (or tobacco-like products, including vape pens), alcohol, and other controlled substances are not allowed on the bus.
  10. Keep the bus clean and orderly. Food, gum, and drinks are not allowed on the bus.
  11. Students shall only ride the bus they are assigned to and get on/off at their assigned stop unless they have a bus pass issued from the school office.
  12. Students will sit in their assigned seats.
  13. Treat everyone with respect.

Students and parents must understand that riding the school bus is a privilege, which may be lost if a student's misconduct jeopardizes the safe operation of the school bus or the safety of the other passengers. When students are on the school bus, authority lies with the driver and the school district. The Transportation Department will make every effort to work with students and parents to resolve conflict on a one-on-one, informal basis. However, formal disciplinary action will be taken in the case of serious violations or when misconduct becomes a pattern.
